Flash is a very powerful way to inject life into your website. It's both a design tool, and a powerful programming language.
Flash liberates a website from the rigid structure imposed by HTML.
Nothing else can provide the rich environments, interactivity and animated presentations possible with Flash. That is, nothing else offers the degree of certainty that it will work for most of your potential clients.

Ahem, yes. Flash only works in a web browser where the Flash player has been installed. And not every web browser has it.
This is something you need to think about when you're planning your website. Flash can give you almost anything you want, but it won't work with every browser out there.
It's possible some of your clients and/or prospects won't be able to use, or even see, a site created in Flash. In addition, some of your clients may have Flash functionality disabled, even though their browser supports it.
Despite these set backs, there is still currently no other way to bring such rich (and compelling) content to your website. Flash can be used to animate logos (drawing attention to them) far more efficiently than animated gifs. And it's a great tool for creating online presentations...

Of course, any web designer worth the title will make sure the site still offers limited functionality for those who don't have Flash installed.
Anybody with a product or service that would benefit from an online presentation, is going to want that presentation created in Flash.
